Delivering the fire door programme
We began fitting 4 doors per days in July due to issues gaining access to properties. We conducted a resident profiling exercise which identified a high proportion of Romanian residents. We hired a Romanian-speaking project supervisor to liaise with residents. This lowered instances of no access to >4%.
Increasing access rates
We also encountered a number of residents who did not want their doors replaced. Our RLO worked with these residents to explain the importance of fire doors and the difference it makes when fires occur. Our RLO used iPads to show videos of fire doors protecting flats, highlighting the benefits to residents. We also implemented an initiative where every resident who allowed first time access would be entered into a £250 prize drawn.
Supporting Peabody residents
As part of the Sureserve Group we held a Fun Day at the Grosvenor Estate in July 2016. This consisted of a buffet meal for over 100 guests, in addition to a raffle to raise funds for Great Ormond Street Hospital. The CSR team also set up a stall to advise residents about Work Experience and Apprenticeship opportunities at Sureserve Fire & Electrical and Sureserve Group.
